After the last few months of building work, Maneki Ramen is back open with a slick new restaurant in Arch 44, Worcester.

Maneki Ramen opened on July 28, serving a range of ramen bowls and Japanese side dishes from head chef Pete Dovaston, who brings a modern twist to some of his favourite tastes from his travels. Working for A Rule of Tum’s Burger Shop in Worcester, Pete progressed from trying out his simple Japanese dishes on fellow staff members to experimenting with a pop-up ramen bar in the adjoining railway arch. Launched in November 2020, it quickly built a loyal following during the pandemic, laying the foundations for something more permanent.

A Rule of Tum’s local directors were delighted to be able to support his creativity and entrepreneurship. Director Dorian Kirk said: “We are keen to support talented young chefs and to develop innovative concepts, in line with our ambitions to make and serve delicious food in wonderful spaces. Maneki Ramen is a great addition to our offer, which also includes The Burger Shop in Worcester and The Burger Shop, The Bookshop and The Yard in Hereford.”

Difficulties in acquiring building materials and sharp increases in their costs meant that when building work started on Maneki Ramen’s new premises in March 2021, the project initially hit the buffers. Yet by July 27th, the restaurant was hosting a lunch party, welcoming everyone involved in the build and loyal customers to be the first to see the new surroundings.

Maneki Ramen is open Tuesday-Saturday each week in Arch 44, Cherry Tree Walk, Worcester and tables are available for booking right now. The new restaurant offers a standard menu of ramen bowls and Japanese side dishes as well as an eight-course tasting menu paired with natural wines.
